ABOUT ME

Hello! My name is Alex Fowler, and I am a union art director and artist based in Los Angeles, California.

My love for art started at a very young age. As a child, I spent countless hours drawing, crafting, and experimenting alongside my mom. Together, we created our own magazines, built intricate paper-mâché sculptures, assembled collages, sewed costumes, and explored every creative medium we could get our hands on. Those early experiences instilled a lifelong curiosity and an appreciation for the tactile, playful, and inventive nature of making things with your hands.

I have always been drawn to collecting, from scraps of paper and vintage ephemera to little trinkets and curiosities with no real purpose other than “this feels special.”. These small pieces of tangible media have always held a place in my heart, both for their aesthetic qualities and the stories they carry. I am just as much of an avid collector today and I hope to make art that my fellow collectors will love to keep and treasure.

Keep physical media alive!

I graduated from Chapman University in 2021 with a BFA in Film Production, specializing in Production Design, and a minor in Studio Art. My time at Chapman provided a strong foundation in both the technical and creative aspects of visual storytelling, while also giving me the freedom to explore my own artistic voice.

Immediately after graduation, I moved to Los Angeles to pursue a career in the art department for film and television. I feel incredibly fortunate to have built a fulfilling career in this industry, contributing to imaginative, visually rich productions — most recently on the third season of Euphoria. Working professionally has been inspiring, but it has also reinforced a distinction I hold dearly: there is a profound difference between creating art as a job and creating art for yourself.

Since completing my work on Euphoria, I’ve been dedicating more time to personal art practice, diving back into drawing, crafting, and mixed media. It’s been exhilarating to reconnect with that sense of freedom and experimentation, and I’ve found immense joy in creating art purely for its own sake.
